NOSTR: Social Media Control For The Rest of Us

DragonBox Becomes One of the First Consulting Firms to Adopt NOSTR — Now Listed as the FIRST NPUB on the IANA Private Enterprise Number Registry
At DragonBox, we're proud to be one of the first consulting firms to adopt and actively participate in the NOSTR protocol, a decentralized, censorship-resistant social network that puts users — not platforms — in control of their data and identity.
As part of our commitment to open systems and digital sovereignty, we’ve taken the bold step of publishing our NOSTR public key (npub) to the Private Enterprise Number (PEN) registry, becoming the first company to do so.
Why NOSTR?
NOSTR (Notes and Other Stuff Transmitted by Relays) represents a fundamental shift in how identity and communication are handled on the internet. Designed to resist censorship and centralization, it allows individuals and organizations to publish messages and data using public/private key cryptography, all without relying on any single platform or authority.
For our consulting practice — built around open standards, infrastructure reliability, and forward-looking tech strategy — NOSTR isn't just an experiment. It's a strategic investment in the future of trustless identity and protocol-level communication.
A NOSTR npub in the IANA PEN Registry?
The IANA Private Enterprise Number (PEN) Registry is a long-standing global namespace for identifying organizations in protocols, MIBs, and software ecosystems. Traditionally used for SNMP, LDAP, and other standards, it offers a canonical numeric ID linked to an entity name and contact.
By publishing our NOSTR npub in our IANA PEN registration record, we are:
- Binding a cryptographically secure identity to our enterprise registration
- Enabling verifiable lookup of our NOSTR key via a neutral, open registry
- Bridging traditional infrastructure and emerging decentralized networks
This represents a first-of-its-kind move, extending the role of PENs beyond their original purpose into the realm of decentralized identifiers and next-generation protocols.
What’s Next?
We plan to:
- Engage with partners and clients directly over NOSTR
- Develop tooling that uses PEN entries for secure org-level identity resolution
- Promote best practices for organizations blending centralized registries and decentralized protocols
Our hope is that other forward-looking organizations will join us in extending trust anchors like IANA PENs into new domains like NOSTR, DNSSEC, and DIDs.
Our Public Key
Our official NOSTR public key (npub13fux9a5rzcrty5van2uedgqwreszzzwl38qufmnftfpe922w675qlagzfe) is now embedded in our IANA PEN registration and publicly verifiable.
This is just the beginning.
If you're building for a decentralized future, or curious about how to bring cryptographic identity into your organization's architecture, we’d love to talk.
